Discerning Prayer
This is a glimpse into the messy process of trying to write a prayer.
Psalm 86:11 - teach me your way Lord that I may rely on your faithfulness, give me an undivided heart that I may fear your name.
Elijah - you were not in the storm, in the fire, but in the whisper.
Write a play on the noise of the world - the twinkling lights, the screens, the scrolling, the advice, and viral news. You were not in that, but you are in the whisper.
Give us eyes to see and ears to hear. May our hearts grow undivided for the love of Christ, that Your will be done. Not my phone, my peers, my unconcious desires, but your will be done Lord.
Father, stillness and silence are scarce. There is an abundance of noise around us.
A barrage of "what if's" "should have's" and "can't they's" fill my mind and heart as I look around.
Father, you are above all and through all. It is your work we are seeking to join on campus. Help us to remove our distractions. To tune out some of the noise.
Help us to cast off all the "what if's" "should have's" and "can't they's" that are rooted in our pride.
Help us to put away our phones, and our personal kingdom building agendas.
May your love become the foundation of our work. May your work in us establish within us a zeal for your word.
May we fix our eyes on the things above. May our thoughts and desires come from you Jesus.
Lead us as we discern, pray, and plan our purposes for this year. May our work be filled with faith, hope, and love.
